PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively and efficiently obtain the subject compound useful as a raw material for medicines. SOLUTION: An aromatic ketone compound (e.g. p-methylbenzophenone) substituted by a 1-7C alkyl group and/or a halogen group (chlorine and/or bromine) is brought into contact with a catalyst containing a zeolite, preferably at 20-350 deg.C under a pressure capable of keeping liquid phase to provide the objective specific isomer of an aromatic ketone. The zeolite used in this reaction is preferably at least one kind of zeolite selected from beta type, pentasil type, mordenite type and faujasite type zeolites. |
