PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elastic nonwoven fabric structure having sufficient stretchability in all directions (regardless of its longitudinal and transverse directions) and high flexibility and capable of expanding its applications to supporters requiring stretch-backing properties, lining of synthetic leathers, cushions and padding materials and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This elastic nonwoven fabric structure comprises a composite material consisting of a crimp-developed low-density nonwoven fabric mainly composed of a latently crimpable fiber and a rubber-like resin of low glass transition point. The latently crimpable fiber is used as a main component to effect needle punching with low needle density to obtain a low density nonwoven fabric, the needle-punched low density nonwoven fabric is heat-treated under high overfeed conditions in both the longitudinal and transverse directions to prepare a nonwoven fabric excellent in stretchability. Then, the nonwoven fabric is impregnated with a resin having a rubber-like properties in an amount of 15-60wt.% and dried to obtain the objective elastic nonwoven fabric structure. |
