PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively obtain a silacyclohexanone compound in high purity and excellent yield, useful as an intermediate for preparing a liquid crystal compound by means of deakloxycarbonylation of a compound prepared from a specific hydrosilane compound as the starting material. SOLUTION: This silcayclohexanone compound is obtain by initially reacting a hydorsilane compound of formula I (Ar is phenyl or tolyl; R is Ar, a 1-10C straight chain alkyl, etc.) with a compound of formula II (Z is COOR' or CN; R' is a 1-4C straight chain alkyl or the like) in the presence of a transition metal catalyst to form a mixture of compounds of formula III, hydrogenating all of the mixture at once to afford a compound of formula IV, cyclizing the compound of formula IV by treating it with a base when Z in formula IV is an ester or hydrating an initially formed cyclic iminonitrile with an acid when Z is nitrile to afford a compound of formula V, and finally accomplishing deakoxycarbonylation or decarboxylation of the compound of formula V to obtain the objective silacyclohexanone compound of formula VI. |
