<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject culture medium, capable of providing a virus of stable quality useful for producing vaccines or research, etc., and useful for culturing an animal cell for propagating the virus by adding a basic fibroblast growth factor to a basal culture medium for culturing the animal cell. SOLUTION: This serum-free culture medium is obtained by adding 0.5-20ng/ml basic fibroblast growth factor and 0.1-20μg/ml insulin as essential ingredients to a basal culture medium, comprising a 10% tris phosphoric acid buffer solution, etc., containing glucose, amino acids, calcium D-pantothenate, choline chloride, folic acid, inositol, nicotinamide, pyridoxal hydrochloride, vitamins, an inorganic salt, etc., and useful for culturing an animal cell. Since the animal cell used for producing a virus can be cultured under serum-free conditions, the objective serum-free culture medium for producing the virus capable of providing the virus of stable quality useful for producing vaccines or research without being influenced by the quality of the blood serum is obtained.</p> |
