SEPARATION METHOD OF HYDROGEN CHLORIDE AND PENTAFLUOROETHANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover hydrochloric acid substantially free from pentafluoroethane by efficiently separating hydrogen chloride from a raw material mixture containing hydrogen chloride and pentafluoroethane. SOLUTION: A raw material mixture 1 containing hydrogen chloride and pentafluoroethane is allowed to contact with water 2 and separated into a water phase 4 enriched in hydrogen chloride and a vapor phase 3 enriched in pentafluoroethane. Pentafluoroethane contained in the water phase 4 is aerated by air 5 to strip it from the water phase. Hydrochloric acid 7 essentially free from pentafluoroethane is recovered.
