PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly remove polishing chips of polishing cloth, to properly recover polishing performance of the polishing cloth, and to reuse the cloth in a polishing chip removing device, which is for removing the polishing rubbish grasped by the polishing mesh of the polishing cloth, by providing projections, which have respective ridgelines of the same height, and making these projections give pressure to the polishing cloth and slide against the polishing cloth. SOLUTION: A polishing chip removing device 2 for the polishing cloth is used for removing the polishing chip grasped by polishing meshes of polishing cloths 12, 15 for polishing the surface of a substrate for a magnetic disc, which is held by a substrate holding body, and it is attached to a lower flat table 14 in place of the substrate holding body. This removing device 2 is provided on its both sides with first to third projections 3 to 5 having rigelines 6 of the same height. By pressing the ridgelines 6 against upper and lower polishing cloths 12, 15 and by making the ridgelines slide against the polishing cloths 12, 15, the polishing rubbish is removed, ranging over the entire polishing surface 13, 16 of the polishing cloths 12, 15. As for the hardness and material of the projections of the polishing rubbish removing device 2, it should be hard to a certain degree, while plastics, aluminum alloy, or stainless steel appropriately selected is used as material. |
