PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vulcanizable rubber composition excellent in balance between a coefficient of friction and wear resistance, suitable as a pinch roller for a magnetic tape apparatus, etc. SOLUTION: This vulcanizable rubber composition is obtained by blending 100 pts.wt. of a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber prepared by hydrogenating a conjugate diene part of an unsaturated nitrile- conjugated diene-based rubber copolymer with (a) 10-60 pts.wt. of a zinc compound, (b) 20-60 pts.wt. of anα,β-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, (c) 10-100 pts.wt. of a low-structure carbon black, (d) 3-30 pts.wt. of a plasticizer and (e) 0.1-30 pts.wt. of an organic peroxide-based vulcanizing agent.
