ATTACHABLE CABLE LUBRICATOR

An aftermarket apparatus facilitates lubrication of a control cable assembly, such as a brake cable assembly, having an inside cable and an outside sheath. A housing is clamped and optionally bonded to a portion of the sheath so as to enclose a portion of the sheath. A tube radiating outward from the housing and terminating in an alignment collet is adapted to receive a drill. The drill includes a depth stop which can be set to abut the alignment collet, and thereby prevent deeper drilling, once the drill has pierce the sheath down to but not beyond the interface between the sheath and the cable. Once drilling has been completed, the drill and the alignment collet are removed and replaced with a nipple fitting adapted to receive and conduct lubricant through the tube, through the breach and into the interface.
