A method for selecting one among a suspend mode, an off mode, and a standby mode according to a mode select signal is disclosed. In the method, it is judged whether vertical and horizontal sync signals are inputted and the monitor is switched to an on mode when the vertical and horizontal sync signals are inputted. When the vertical sync signal is inputted but the horizontal sync signal is not, the monitor is switched to a suspend mode. When the horizontal sync signal is inputted but the vertical sync signal is not, the monitor is switched to a standby mode. When the vertical and horizontal sync signals are not inputted, the monitor is switched to an off mode. |
