The device stops vertical slabs (1), held in position by girders (4) attached to the building, from falling off. The girders have vertical tongues (3) and the slabs (1) have grooves in their horizontal edges (1A,1B) which straddle the tongues. The device has plates (9) which are applied to defective slabs and adjacent slabs and then attached to the girders. The plates are glued to the slabs and fixed with a quadrant plate (10) which is positioned in the vertical joints between the slabs which straddle the tongue to which the plates are attached. The quadrant plates or brackets are soldered to the back of the plates (8). The plates are screwed to the girders, either by screws (12) which pass through the plates, slabs and rails or by screws which pass through he horizontal joints (15) between the slabs, the tongues and the girders.
