The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for reducing acoustic echoes in connection with a telephone call, in which at least one part is using a handsfree telephone (10). The inventive idea is basically to implement an Acoustic Echo Controlling (AEC) device (14) in a digital exchange (12) in a telecommunications system. Thus, the AEC function can be reached from all telephones connected to the digital exchange.
