The invention concerns a rack and servo-assisted steering system, in particular for use in motor vehicles. The steering system comprises a multipart steering housing (1) in which a connection casing (4) is disposed between a pinion casing (2) and a cylinder casing (3). A pinion (5) is rotatably mounted in the pinion casing (2). A rack (6) is guided in an axially displaceable manner in the steering housing (1) and is held in engagement with the pinion (5) in the pinion casing (2) by a spring-loaded pressure member (7). The rack (6) is connected via a piston rod (11) to a piston (12) which separates two pressure chambers (13, 14) of a servomotor (10) from each other in the cylinder casing (3). The connection casing (4) is made of a resilient material, preferably plastics. The connection casing (4) can be produced in a particularly simple manner from a plastics tube or plastics hose. |
