The digital data of a plurality of video/sound application programs are stored in a plurality of large-capacity random access storage devices (9), and a controller (8) instructs multichannel output decoders (6 and 7) to read out the video/sound application programs and vacant channel numbers. The decoders (6 and 7) intermittently read out the video/sound programs in blocks from the storage devices (9) in time division, decode them after temporary storage, and output them through the specified channels. Therefore, the costs of the decoders (6 and 7) can be reduced, because any software can be supplied to video/sound terminals at any time unless the number of application programs exceeds the number of allowable output channels of a data processor regardless of whether or not the same programs are requested and the programs can be supplied to more terminals than the number of prepared programs. In addition, terminals need not wait long even if excessive requests are sent for specific programs. Moreover, the decoders can operate with small memory, thus reducing manufacturing costs. |
