Self-diagnostic system with key matrix for television receiver

The matrix (110) includes a key for selection of the self-diagnostic mode, and keys for selection of menus related to the self-diagnosis of the television receiver problems. A control section (120) identifies the selected key and generates the control signals for a tuner (100) and both the audio and video signal processors (130,150). The menus and examples of problems are displayed on the television screen (170), and advice is given on the same screen and/or through the loudspeaker (140). Examples cited include the absence of sound or colour, the failure of a reservation function, loss of reception, unnecessary channel selection, picture shake or flicker, and overlapping pictures.
