A vane pump in which a cover is simple in construction and a manufacturing cost is reduced. A cover connected to a body is formed with a grooved low pressure port (6A) and a forked recessed groove (6), which branches in forked manner, and pins are provided upright on a side plate to project a predetermined amount from an end surface of the body. Through holes are formed in a cam ring to have the pins inserted therethrough, and engaging recesses (25) having a predetermined depth are formed on the cover to engage with ends of the pins. A clearance recess (24) is formed on the cover to receive a drive shaft projecting from the end surface of the body, and a stepped portion is formed on an inner periphery of a body shaft hole to come in contact and out of contact with a shoulder, which is provided between a large diameter portion and a small diameter portion of the drive shaft.
