An apparatus for securing and stabilizing stacks of discrete items (9) on pallets (99), such as bags of powdered or granular material, comprising a bottom member (10), a top member (20), side members (30), securing means (40) and an adhesive layer (50) between one or more layers of the discrete items (9), where the bottom member (10), top member (20) and side members (30) are positioned so as to enclose the stack of discrete items (9). Preferably, flap members (12, 22 or 34) perpendicular to the edges (11, 21, 31, 32 or 33) of some or all of the bottom (10), top (20) or side (30) members are provided to further secure the members relative to the stack and to each other. Most preferably, the side members (30) are provided with extended top flaps (22) having cut lines (53) and score lines (52) to allow the side members (30) to be properly sized according to the height of the stack.
