The device has a pot or bell blade (10) driven by an electric motor (12) and a transport roller (14) which feeds the material and is moved by a motor transmission (18) via a shaft (16). A grinding tool (20) carried on a protruding support (22) mounted on a bearing (24) is rotationally driven by a motor (26). A truing element (30) sits on a pin protruding from a carrier. A mechanism (38) coupled to the motor transmission generates a pulse or signal for every revolution of the transport roller. The pulse is converted by an electronic central unit into an interval. The central unit causes the movement of the grinding tool relative to the rotation and the monitored approach to or contact with the blade for the grinding process and to the element for the truing process.
