An open-end spinning rotor has a rotor dish (2) and shaft (3) with a free end supplied with a support element (20) and an associated thrust bearing (5) where the support element is fitted on the radially terminating face of a shaft extension. The support element is attached to the circumferential surface (26) of the shaft by a separate gripping holder part (21). Preferably the holder (21), fixed with a press fit to the shaft circumferential surface, is releasable and is a re-usable component. It is a hollow cylinder with an inner surface (25) which lies on the shaft's circumferential surface. The support element is a consumable.
