The surgical device has an electrode arrangement connected to a source of electric energy. The electrode arrangement has at least one electric lead arrangement with a proximal end which receives the energy from the source. The electrode tip has a current crowing, non-rotating surface. The surface may be flat or may be patterned. In the latter case, the surface may have a row of parallel grooves. These grooves may extend parallel to the axial direction of the electrode arrangement. The electrode surface may have a first group of parallel grooves and a second group of parallel grooves running across the first. The second group preferably run orthogonal to the axial direction of the electrode arrangement.
