A safety element (1a) is fitted into the interior of the top section of the fork shaft (2a), which is not liable to break during accidents. The element is fastened non-turnably and non-movably, and is fitted into the shaft, or is elastically connected to it at the bottom end. Positive locking or the connection guarantees complete non-movability. The upper safety element is elastically connected to left and right fork blades via a further safety element. Its non-movability is guaranteed similarly to that of the top element. The lower edge of the top element is flanged, forming a lug, which engages contact-free into an aperture or groove in the fork shaft.
