Apparatus for producing domestic hot water

The boiler has a gas burner (3) and a closed circuit (6) for heating a low-volume domestic hot water tank (10). A pump (5) and a tube (4) pass through a combustion chamber (2) to form a main heat exchanger. The water drawn from the tank (10) is replaced with cold water which passes first through a secondary direct heat exchanger (14) in the closed circuit (6). The secondary heat exchanger (14) is mounted after the tank in the hot water re-heating circuit (6) and before it in the replacement circuit (9). The tank (10) has a volume of some 6 litres. The direct heat exchanger is compact in design with plates and can be enclosed within the tank. The system incorporates two temperature sensors (24,26) inside the tank and on the replacement circuit respectively.
