Process for manufacturing a phosphor

A process for the production of luminophores comprises: (a) weighing out the powdered starting materials for the preparation; (b) mixing the powdered ingredients in aqueous medium; (c) evaporating the liquid off; (d) sieveing the resulting powder to 100 mu m; (e) calcining at a temperature of 1100-1400 degrees C in an inert atmosphere, the inert gas being injected into the heart of the powder mass; (f) sieveing the calcined powder; (g) grinding the powder to reduce the particle size of the grains and sieveing again; (h) re-calcining the milled powder at 700-1200 degrees C to cause a rearrangement of the primary atomic layers in the powder grains; (i) mixing the powder into an aqueous medium and sedimenting the mixture, then recovering the upper part of the volume containing the powder in suspension; and (j) drying the liquid off and sieveing the powder obtained.
