<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain low power consumption by sharply easing restriction to detection timing for the depression position of a tablet arranged on a screen, sharply shortening time consumed for detecting the position by a CPU and reducing power required for recognizing the depression of a pen. SOLUTION: The position reader is provided with a tablet 2 consisting of horizontal and vertical transparent resistor films to be input means, a display device 5, a display controller 7 for controlling the device 5, a position reading period signal generating circuit 9 for setting up a coordinate reading period, and a masking circuit 8 for masking a display control signal in the coordinate reading period. Voltage changed when the tablet 2 is depressed with the pen 2 is detected by a depression signal detecting circuit, a depression signal informing circuit informs the CPU 11 of the pen depression based upon the detection signal and the CPU 1 detects a pen depression point on the tablet 2, but until the pen depression information is received, the CPU 1 executes other processing.</p> |
