Iron (Fe) and steel wires, for nail and fixings manufacture, have their surfaces profiled, e.g. by spiral grooves, during production to increase their retention strength. In the drawing phase, part of the material is worked internally using a ribbed die profile, while, in the direction of the grooves, other material is spread outwards. Also claimed are shaped drawing die to form the profiles in the process above, with ribs in the entry section of the die and a sizing passage in the exit section, and a shaped bronze electrode to produce the die above, by spark erosion. |
