HYDROGEN ION PERMSELECTIVE MEMBRANE AND ELECTRODIALYSIS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrogen ion permselective membrane excellent in resistances to chemicals and acids at a low cost by selecting the membrane comprising a specific heterogeneous cation exchanger layer and a specific layer formed thereon. SOLUTION: This membrane is a mulfilayer membrane comprising a heterogeneous cation exchanger layer comprising cation exchange resin (e.g. a sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer) particles and a binder polymer (e.g. an ethylene-octene-1 copolymer) and an anion exchanger (e.g. an aminated polymer obtd. by chloromethylating and aminating an arom. polysulfone-polythioether sulfone copolymer) layer formed on at least one side of the cation exchanger layer. Pref. the anion exchanger layer has an ion exchange capacity of 0.5-4 meq/g-dry resin, a fixed ion concn. of 1-10meq/g-H2 O, and a thickness of 0.1-150μm.
