PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a light display without using a light self-emission type back light in a light place by using a diffuse reflection type hologram as a back light. SOLUTION: This device is constituted by arranging diffuse reflection type hologram 11, which diffuses and reflects light made incident from a specific direction to a direction determined as an observation area, on the back side of a liquid crystal display element 20 opposite from the display surface. The illumination light 12 which is made incident from the display side of the liquid crystal display element 20 is diffused and reflected as diffused light 13 only within an angle range θ matching the observation area of the liquid crystal display device to make a light display without using any light self-emission type back light in a light place. |
