PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability by obtaining an image having copying density reflecting the user's taste well for a long time whether the performance of an AE sensor is excellent or not. SOLUTION: As to a copying machine capable of setting an AE(automatic exposure) mode which can obtain copying density in accordance with original density based on translation tables and which forms an image in accordance with the copying density; density data is obtained in accordance with a reference original from an AE sensor (U3), and whether or not the reference density data is changed by a specified value or more is discriminated (U4). The density of the reference original is specified. Consequently, the reference density data is normally specified. On the other hand, when the performance of the AE sensor is deteriorated, etc., the reference density data is changed by the specified value or more. When the reference density data is discriminated to be changed by the specified value or more, the translation tables are corrected based on the average value of density adjustment amount selected by the user (U6). |
