PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the liquid crystal display device which is superior in visual angle characteristics and contrast, and to provide its manufacturing method and driving method. SOLUTION: This device has plural pixels having liquid crystal layers of nematic liquid crystal sandwiched between two substrates. Then this device features the coexistence of four fine areas A, B, C, and D which are fine areas differing in the twist direction of liquid crystal and fine areas differing in the rising direction of liquid crystal molecules. Specially, two areas where liquid crystal twists in the same direction and rise in different directions are not in line contact on a virtual plane. Further, the liquid crystal layers contains macromolecules to stabilize the four areas. The liquid crystal display device which is superior in visual angle dependency and has high contrast can be manufactured through a simple process similar to a conventional process. |
