PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a solid-state imaging device, etc., with which frame shift or high-speed transfer sweep-out can be performed by making a horizontal transfer register itself into overflow drain area. SOLUTION: When a signal charge to be transferred to the horizontal transfer is a signal charge concerning invalid lines (lines excepting for the line related to valid area to be scanned), vertical transfer pulsesϕV1-ϕV4 are outputted from a vertical drive circuit 13 at all times, and transfer pulsesϕH1 andϕH2 from a horizontal drive circuit 14 are switched to bias signals SB1 and SB2 of fixed potential by a switching circuit 16. Then, a reset pulseϕRG from an output drive circuit 15 and a gate signalϕ0G are respectively switched to bias signals SB3 and SB4 of fixed potential by a 2nd switching circuit 17, and the potential level from the horizontal transfer register 4 to an output part 5 is made equal with a drain area D.
