PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-cycle engine which can cope with engine abnormality without impairing a purifying function of a catalyst. SOLUTION: In the case of constituting a two-cycle engine 9 arranging a throttle valve 37 changing a passage area in an intake passage 21 also a catalyst 32 purifying exhaust gas in an exhaust passage 26, a passage opening/closing valve 50 opening/closing a passage is arranged in the downstream of the throttle valve 37 in the intake passage 21, an ECU (opening/closing valve abnormality time control means) 55 forcedly closing the passage opening/closing valve 50, when the engine is in abnormality of overheat, oil level lowering down, catalytic temperature abnormal rise, etc., is provided. |
