FIELD: transport engineering; safety systems for driver and passengers. SUBSTANCE: inflatable safety cushion is made of several parts of cloth differing in gas permeability, stitched together. Nevertheless all parts of cloth of inflatable cushion consist of cloth of similar type as to density of thread and complex thread. Gas permeability of entire inflatable cushion increases as a function of internal gauge pressure rising to gauge pressure of about 10 kPa to value of 0.4-1.0 cu.m and then continues rising at gauge pressure values of 10-20 kPa to maximum, then decreases so that at gauge pressure from 20 kPa to at least 40 kPa to start decreasing again, owing to such character of gas permeability curve hardness of inflatable cushion is automatically regulated to decrease risk of injuries at initial phase of pressure building and to prevent puncture of cushion at high intensity of collision owing to increased hardness of cushion.
