The rotating chuck is provided with jaws that lock the pipe over its inner surface. The jaws are provided with a seat for the spiral rod-shield made of a flexible material. The shield is rigidly secured to one of the jaws. The seat allows a gap between the pipe and the rod-shield that is needed for machining with the laser beam. EFFECT: improved design.
