FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging batch into furnace, heating batch by electric arcs, and displacing burner, nozzle or lance flames over the batch surface followed by fusing batch. Burner flames are successively and cyclically displaced over the batch surface, intensity of one radiation characteristics, e.g. radiation temperature, is measured. Heating area with fixed position of burner before the beginning and in the end of heating of current region of batch surface are taken into account. When radiation intensity exceeds initial one by 5-90%, burner flame is moved to the next region of batch surface. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of batch heating and increased productivity of smelting process. |
