SUBSTANCE: present invention describes method of preparation of high-molecular weight epoxy resin having average epoxy number of 2 with divalent phenol compound in the presence of glycol ether having no epoxy group in α-position as solvent. Glycol ethers are preferably propylene glycol ethers such as propylene glycol methyl ether, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate, propylene glycol propyl ether and propylene glycol monobutyl ether.
