PRODUCTION OF THIN FILM MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND THIN FILM MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a magnetic recording medium and the magnetic recording medium by which excellent recording and reproducing characteristics and high productivity can be obtd. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer is formed by vapor deposition on a travelling substrate in a vacuum vapor deposition device. In this method, a member 10 for revaporization is disposed to face the substrate 1 in the downstream side of the travelling direction from the starting point of formation of the magnetic layer and the member 10 is heated to a temp. higher than the melting point of the material 6 to be vaporized. Thus atoms which vaporize from the vapor source 5 and reach the member 10 for revaporization are again vaporized, and the revaporized atoms and atoms directly vaporized from the vapor source 5 are mixed and deposited together on the substrate 1 to form the magnetic layer.
