PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compression of video data by transmitting selective information of a field or a frame used for the encoding of a picture B to the receiver of video data to be compressed through the use of the characteristic of a normal MPEG(moving picture image coding expert group) data stream. SOLUTION: The picture B, etc., is encoded relationally with a picture the encoding of which is already finished by a final compressor 60. Among these pictures, what is actually encoded is the difference between one picture and not less than one predicted picture depended by the picture. In order to attain this a picture for encoding is supplied from a GOP(group of picture) delaying device 40 to an arithmetic unit 50 and the predicted picture depended by it, namely what is decoded by an expander 70 after being encoded, is supplied to the subtraction input 55 of a subtracter 50. This subtracter output is compressed by a compressor 60 with a difference signal. Selective information of the field or the frame used for encoding the picture B is transmitted to the receiver of video data to be compressed thorough the use of the characteristic of the normal MPEG data stream. |
