The reoxidation apparatus (1) for use in electrodeposition baths comprises a reservoir (2) containing a cathode (3) and a liquid-tight, current-passing wall. An anode (5) is placed outside the reservoir. Electrolyte is supplied to (7) and drained from (4) the reservoir. Electrical connections (16,17) are provided for the electrodes. Also claimed is the electrodeposition of metal coatings on objects using the above apparatus, with continuous supply of electrolyte from the bath to the reservoir, reduction of metal ions in the reservoir and re oxidation in the bath. The reservoir is cleaned after a number of cycles.
