PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing technique in which high definition color state is expressed without revising a format of run length data. SOLUTION: In this processor, an image processing station 3 applies run length compression processing to a color image element received from an input scanner 1. In this case, as to image elements with a number of colors, each color component is converted into separate version run length data using its gradation as color data. After the separate version run length data are interleaved to obtain a rough image, a layout output arithmetic station 4 is used to conduct layout processing by the operator. In this case, the rough image as the separate version is located to the same position by using an offset coordinate. The rough image after laid out is replaced with the original run length data and the replaced data are outputted from an image setter 5. |
