PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication unit and a communication method for guiding a subject from current position to a goal through bidirectional communication. SOLUTION: The portable communication unit comprises an external memory medium 3 storing plan view information and three-dimensional view information, a GPS antenna 6, a central processing means 4 performing specified operations, means 9 for reading out information from the external memory medium 3 and delivering the information to the central processing means 4, and a main memory means 11 for storing the processing procedure and the like of central processing means 4. The central processing means 4 produces a map clearing indicating the current position and goal from plan view information read out through the read out means 9 and executes a processing for producing a three- dimensional image from three-dimensional view information and displaying the three-dimensional image on an I/O screen 5.
