In a variable-ratio transmission, a V-belt connects driving and driven pulleys whose flanges (4), formed as shallow cones, bear (4b) on the belt sides. Flange separation is adjustable for ratio-changing, one pulley hub (5) sliding within the other, fixed hub. Flange and hub designs differ according as the component is adjustable or not, driving or driven, but in principle each flange is produced as a pressing, with a central hole fitting a locating shoulder on the cold-forged, machined hub. |
