The cut-out device (1) for the drive circuit (2) of an electric vehicle co-operates with a device detecting a shock to the vehicle in order to initiate the cut-out. The vehicle is provided with a safety device, for example and inflatable cushion, which is released by a release current produced in the event of a shock to the vehicle. The mechanism includes a pyrotechnic device (17) fired by the release current (Id) in order to ensure the opening of the circuit providing traction for the vehicle.
