PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which is easy to manufacture and equipped with an inter-connecting means which transmits a light signal propagated in an optical waveguide to a light receiving element outside the optical waveguide and also transmits a light signal generated by a light emitting means into the optical waveguide. SOLUTION: An end part of the optical guide 20 formed on the top surface of a substrate 10 is formed into a slanting surface 20a which faces forward along the top surface of the substrate 10. On the top surface part of a substrate 10 below the slanting surface 20a, a reflecting surface 40 is formed. The light which is propagated in the optical guide 20 is reflected by the inside of the slanting surface 20a and the reflecting surface 40 in order and transmitted to the light receiving element 50 outside the optical guide 20 through the slanting surface 20a. The light emitted by the light emitting element 60, on the other hand, can be transmitted into the optical guide 20 through the slanting surface 20a. The light is reflected by the reflecting surface 40 and transmitted forward in the optical guide 20. |
