PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable response photodetector for correcting non- uniformity of a scintillating crystal, and to provide a method for utilizing a photodetector assembly, a X-ray detecting system and the variable response photodetector. SOLUTION: A photo-diode part 10 of the photodetector is formed of sub elements 20-28 made silicone or other semi-conductor material. Each photo-diode sub element 20-28 is respectively deposited to the surface 34 of a wafer 30, and related to each metal electric connector 50-58 separately extended from an end of the related rectangular sub element to corresponding electric terminals 60-68. The electric terminals 60-68 are interconnected through an electric matrix so that one or more photo-diode sub element 20-28 are selectively started at the same time so as to correct the Z-directional non-uniformity of a scintillating crystal.
