PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily select a desired character by starting the character selection due to the next increment or decrement operation from the leading position of character group including an input fixed character when the input of certain character is fixed by an enter operation. SOLUTION: A disk name input mode is called by an edit key 29, and the operation of character input is performed. Concerning this operation of character input, each time a jog dial 27 is turned to right for one click, the operation of increment for one step is executed and each time the jog dial 27 is turned to left for one click, the operation of decrement for one step is executed. These operations are executed for several dozens of steps and the selection of various characters is displayed on a display part 20. Concerning that character input, the input character string is fixed by depressing the edit key 29 or a YES key 30. Then, the character selection is started from the leading position of that input character string and the selected character is written in the disk. Therefore, the desired character can be easily selected.
