PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely initialize a device from a managed equipment. SOLUTION: After a copying machine P is set up so as to initialize the device D from the copying machine side without registration to a host H, a serviceman inputs a code for registration to initialize the device, and then the device D communicates with the host H and sends an initialization report. The host H after receiving the report generates a data base, sets the device D with prescribed values of the data base, and also sets a copying machine ID. The device D sends the copying machine ID back to the copying machine after the communication is all completed normally. To register the copying machine P, an operator of the host H opens an unregistered managed equipment list screen and performs registering operation by selecting the corresponding copying machine P, so that the data base is completed on the host. |
