DEVICE AND METHOD FOR RECORDING DIGITAL IMAGE DATA, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REPRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a beautiful reproduced image when image data adding a high frequency component is DCT(discrete cosine transform)-compressed. SOLUTION: An image is picked up through the use of a high image element CCD so as to obtain image data with the precision of the about 1,400,000 image elements with the 1440 image elements in a horizontal direction and 960 image elements in a longitudinal direction. A quadri-partite image consisting of the image elements of an odd numbered row-odd numbered column, an odd numbered row-even numbered column, an even numbered row-even numbered column and an even numbered row-odd numbered column within the image elements of the precision image is constituted. The division images are divided into the odd numbered column image elements and the even numbered column image elements. The average image element of the image elements being adjacent in the horizontal direction is generated and interpolated(*A-*D) in the space area of the even numbered column in the division image consisting of the odd numbered column image elements and the space area of the odd numbered column in the division image consisting of the even numbered column image elements. The interpolated division images are obtained(A-D). Image data expressing the division image is DCT compressed at every DCT block and recorded in a magnetic tape. Since the high frequency components are a few so that the high frequency components is prevented from being cut off even with DCT compression and noise is also prevented from occurring in a reproduction image.
