PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct luminance unevenness in a multiple screen display device using a PDP performing APC. SOLUTION: An input image signal S1 is digitized by an A/D converting part 1, and an enlarged image signal to be displayed on one PDP 4 is formed by an enlarging processing part 2, inputted to the subordinate address of a ROM 3 to correct the luminance unevenness between each PDP, and outputted to the PDP 4 as the output data of the ROM 3 to display an image. The average data every display picture element of the image signal data displayed on each PDP is calculated from the image signal outputted from the A/D converting part 1 by an average data detecting part 5 to determine the average in a fixed time, whereby average data is provided. A maximum average data is provided by a maximum average data detecting part 6 formed of a comparing circuit between the average data. The average data and the maximum average data are inputted to the superordinate address of the ROM 3 to select the converting characteristic of the image signal for luminance correction between each PDP preliminarily written in the ROM 3. |
