PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical disk reproducing device capable of performing a servo control optimizing processing by shortening the waiting time at the time of a start up including the time of the exchanging and loading of a disk even in the case plural recording layers are provided in an optical disk. SOLUTION: Recording layers of an optical disk 1 are constituted of plural layers, a servo control means is constituted of a control circuit 4, a servo circuit 10 and a pre-amplifier 9 and the tracking control and focusing control optimizing processing of an optical pickup 2 is performed to respective recording layers. Data read out from the optical disk 1 are temporarily stored in a memory 13 and the data reading speed of the memory 13 is made slower than the data writing speed of the memory 13. In performing an optimizing processing at the time of a start up, the optimizing processing is performed with respect to a layer on which information needed for the present are recorded. The waiting time is shortened by performing optimizing processings with respect to other layers during the standby of the optical pickup 2 of the duration when information of not less than a prescribed amount are present in the memory 13.
