PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite magnetic head capable of obtaining an excellent signal with a head output of a high output and a low noise in recording/ reproducing on an a flexible magnetic disk (FD) of 1.8 inches securing as same storage capacity as that of FD (2MB/1.44MB) of 3.5 inches. SOLUTION: This head is constituted so that an inter-gap distance Lg between an arase gap 31 formed by an erase head core 24 and a central core 26 and a recording/reproducing gap 33 formed by a recording/reproducing head core 25 and the central core 26, and a head height H between respective gaps forming outer peripheral surface of a head part 21 and a bottom part outer peripheral surface are in the relations of H<=0.0575+8.5762×Lg and H<=0.40763+5.9410×Lg.
