The spacer particles (3) are so allocated to the positioning regions (2) that each particle sits in one positioning region. The LCD substrate is arranged to face the particle holding panel and the spacer particles are transferred onto the LCD substrate. Preferably, the spacer particle allocation to the positioning regions is carried out by an attraction electrode located in the regions. While the particle transfer onto the LCD substrate is realised by deactivating the attraction electrode.
